One year ago we launched our peer to peer online community that offers support, understanding and friendship to those who are on the healing journey. Over the past year we have shared our stories, our triumphs, our struggles. We have learned from experts who specialize in healing through movement, music, art and writing; they have taught us about healing techniques, setting boundaries, understanding grooming, triggers and so much more. We have talked and laughed and cried and found others who truly understand. It has been a remarkable year. We are so grateful for each of our members and every special guest who has shared with us.

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month

Human trafficking occurs when a trafficker uses force, fraud or coercion to control another person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or soliciting labor or services against his/her will. Force, fraud, or coercion need not be present if the individual engaging in commercial sex is under 18 years of age.

There are estimated to be more than 27.6 million people — adults and children — subjected to human trafficking around the world, including in the United States. Despite the nearly worldwide adoption of international and domestic norms to address and prevent human trafficking, we continue to witness traffickers exploit people in the United States and around the world. But everyone has the power to help make a difference.

The U.S. Department of State provides resources to provide information and things we can all do to combat all forms of human trafficking.
